Here at Glenn Clark Radio, we always reflect on the Baltimore Ravens game in a more jovial manner.  In retrospect, we like to choose five players on the team who — depending on the outcome of the game — deserve a Pat On The Ass or Slap To The Helmet.

The rules are simple: pick two players on defense, two players on offense, and one “wild card” (an offensive player, defensive player, special teamer or coach) who stuck out from the pack.

We all saw it last night, some of us were there, the Ravens dropped the ball yesterday and lost to the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game. As a result, we have some Helmet Slaps to give out.

They will count down in sequential order before we name the ultimate prize — Two Slaps to the Helmet. That one player (or coach) who one single Slap isn’t quite enough.

Without further adieu:

Glenn’s Slaps:

5. EDGE Jadeveon Clowney

The penalty wasn’t great but it wasn’t terribly costly either (he had a huge sack right after that and the Ravens didn’t give up points). But early in the game the Ravens needed more pressure and he wasn’t getting it or keeping contain.

4. EDGE Kyle Van Noy

Just can’t happen. No way around it. You can bloviate all you want about Travis Kelce instigating but Van Noy came over and made contact directly with his helmet while the officials were watching. He’s been in this league far too long to think that’s okay.

3. QB Lamar Jackson

If you wanna flip him with Flowers, I’ll understand. Lamar wasn’t as bad as some people will try to make him out to have been but he wasn’t good enough either.

2. WR Zay Flowers

This is painful. Zay Flowers played well. He’s a hell of a football player and (yes, I know the bar is low) probably will be the best receiver the Ravens have ever drafted/developed. But that, in hindsight, was the Ravens’ chance to re-write the script and put the pressure on the other side. It was killer.

1. OC Todd Monken (anti-Man of the Match)

We will never understand the panic. There is absolutely no excuse for six carries for the running backs.

Griffin’s Slaps:

5. DE Jadeveon Clowney

The roughing the passer, as a veteran guy on this defense, you can’t make those kinds of mistakes on top of being relatively quiet all game on day where it was hard to put a lot of blame on the defense.

4. LB Kyle Van Noy

Same thing, he’s supposed to be the vet of this defense, the guy who’s played in these championship games before… And He’s the one that gets baited by Kelce for a costly unsportsmanlike penalty that led to points.

3. WR Zay Flowers

Was the best player on offense but he made one of the biggest mistakes of the day that directly cost them points and then vanished afterwards.

2. QB Lamar Jackson

He got us here, no doubt, but just too many mistakes. The interception and taking sacks on 3rd downs, he held onto the ball too long all game… reminded me of Justin Fields.

1. OC Todd Monken (anti-Man of the Match)

Six RB rushes in the ENTIRE GAME. That’s Greg Roman-level of choking in a big game.

You can listen as Glenn and Griffin dish out their slaps below, not too much disagreement this time around… they also recapped the weekend in Picks as John in Little Rock clinched a win over the GCR Picks League, you can see those standings below as well:
