Here at Glenn Clark Radio, we always reflect on the Baltimore Ravens game in a more jovial manner. In retrospect, we like to choose five players on the team who — depending on the outcome of the game — deserve a Pat On The Ass or Slap To The Helmet.
The rules are simple: pick two players on defense, two players on offense, and one “wild card” (an offensive player, defensive player, special teamer or coach) who stuck out from the pack.
As you all are unfortunately aware, the Ravens are recovering from an ugly, ugly loss in Pittsburgh to the Steelers in Week 5, as a result, we have some Slaps to the Helmet that must be dished out.
They will count down in sequential order before we name the ultimate prize — Two Slaps to the Helmet. That one player who one single Slap just wouldn’t sit right.
Without further adieu:
Glenn’s Slaps To The Helmet, Week 5:
5. S Marcus Williams
He tried to play with one arm and you want to give him credit for that but it created a liability that they weren’t prepared to overcome.
4. EDGE Jadeveon Clowney
A complete non-factor. It was a glaring difference that when the Steelers needed their edge rush unit to make a play late to win, they got it. The Ravens needed the same thing and there was not one to be found.
3. C Tyler Linderbaum
It just can’t happen.
2. WR Rashod Bateman
He gets to speak for the entire pass catching unit this time because all of the other guilty parties actually made some plays otherwise and he didn’t. But he’s holding the place of the entire group to be sure.
1. HC John Harbaugh
This team continues to crumble under adversity. It truly is part of their DNA at this point.
Griffin’s Slaps To The Helmet, Week 5:
5. CB Marlon Humphrey
Cannot get burned like that at the end of the game, you are an all-pro, shut-down corner, THE corner, that can’t happen.
4. CB Brandon Stephens
He gets beat, always. It’s like he’s allergic to receivers, there’s always someone open in his area.
3. RB Justice Hill
He looked really good early, the fumble was brutal. Turnovers, can’t have them, this is a pattern now.
2. WR Coach Greg Lewis
Are you kidding me with these drops? When it’s a widespread problem with one position group, I look at coaching. There better be a jugs machine on that plane to London.
1. QB Lamar Jackson
Despite all those dropped passes, there was still a chance at the end to go win the game, multiple times. Who sold it? Lamar. He’s fumbled EVERY. SINGLE. GAME. The interception was atrocious. Fix it. Protect the damn football.
