Here at Glenn Clark Radio, we always reflect on the Baltimore Ravens game in a more jovial manner.  In retrospect, we like to choose five players on the team who — depending on the outcome of the game — deserve a Pat On The Ass or Slap To The Helmet.

The rules are simple: pick two players on defense, two players on offense, and one “wild card” (an offensive player, defensive player, special teamer or coach) who stuck out from the pack.

As you all are surely aware, the Ravens took down the Texans yesterday to open up the season in Week 1, as a result, we have some Ass Pats to dish out.

They will count down in sequential order before we name the ultimate prize — Two Pats on the Ass and the Man of the Match. That one player who one single Pat just wouldn’t sit right.

Without further adieu:

Glenn’s Week 1 Pats On The Ass:

5. OL Kevin Zeitler

It wasn’t a great day for the Ravens’ O-Line but when they needed him to be a hero-Zeitler came through to pounce on Lamar Jackson’s fumble.

4. LB Patrick Queen

He’s shaping up to get a lot of money somewhere else.

3. EDGE Odafe Oweh

While it didn’t translate into sacks, I thought it was his best game as a pro-highlighted by three QB hits.

2. WR Zay Flowers

It’s looking like his role will also be significant in how the Ravens go about trying to make up for the loss of J.K. Dobbins.

1. LB Roquan Smith (Man Of The Match) – Two Pats

The best player on the field by a good bit.

Griffin’s Pats On The Ass, Week 1:

5. Tyler Linderbaum

The O-Line struggled, especially early, but he took care of his assignments and wasn’t penalized.

4. CB Ronald Darby

The Texans pass-catchers don’t scare anybody but this secondary had many questions and he showed up (among others). It gives me hope against Cincy next week.

3. LB Patrick Queen

Yeah, he had a pretty good game, made a lot of big plays, the PBU was huge, as was the 4th down sack (which my 12-year old cousin could’ve made).

2. LB Roquan Smith

Need more of this. A performance worthy of $20 million a year.

1. WR Zay Flowers (Man Of The Match) – Two Pats

Beyond any of our wildest dreams for a Ravens-drafted WR, Lamar threw 22 passes, targeted Zay 10 times. He looked fantastic, dynamic.

Also on Monday, Glenn and Griffin recapped the week in the GCR Picks Contest, where the loser at season’s end will have to consume tripe (cow stomach) among other Irish delicacies in our Irish-themed punishment. Here is a look at the updated standings as we enter the fourth week of picks:
