You know the drill, but in case you’re new, here at Glenn Clark Radio, we always try to reflect on the most recent Ravens game in a more convivial manner. In retrospect, we like to choose five players on the team who — depending on the outcome of the game — deserve a Pat On The Ass or Slap To The Helmet.
The rules are simple: pick two players on defense, two players on offense, and one “wild card” (an offensive player, defensive player, special teamer or coach) who stuck out from the pack.
The Ravens clinched the AFC North and a home playoff game with their 35-10 win over the Browns Saturday–as a result, we have some Ass Pats to hand out.
They will count down in sequential order before we name the ultimate prize — Two Pats on the Ass. That one player who one single Pat just wouldn’t sit right.
Without further adieu:
Glenn’s Pats on the Ass:
5. WR Rashod Bateman
Apologies in particular to cornerback Nate Wiggins, who will almost certainly be #1 on tomorrow’s list. Bateman stepped up with the Ravens in need following the Flowers injury and he’ll be needed again next week.
4. LB Chris Board
Dude, he’s just been so, so good. It’s really crazy. He plays the ball. It’s so refreshing.
3. DT Michael Pierce
Sure, the game was over by that point. But like, you have eyes.
2. RB Derrick Henry
He had 8 yards at the half. 8!
1. QB Lamar Jackson (two pats)
He’s really valuable. Like the valuable-ist.
Griffin’s Pats on the Ass:
5. EDGE Odafe Oweh
He had a very good game, filling up the stat sheet, they couldn’t run a lick, and being able to pick up his 10th sack is significant. Should Lamar be here? Maybe. But Oweh had a great game and Lamar has been on this list a lot, and will be on this list again.
4. WR Rashod Bateman
Stepped up pretty big without Zay. The Browns are a corpse but need him to carry this over into next week, likely without Zay.
3. CB Nate Wiggins
Pick six was huge, clearly. And while it’s not gospel, according to pff, the passer rating against Nate Wiggins Saturday was: 8.3… Eight. Point. Three.
2. RB Derrick Henry
Makes it look too easy, makes winning football games pretty easy, too.
1. NT Michael Pierce (two pats)
Didn’t register an official tackle but was taking on double teams all day, allowing other guys like–Oweh, Van Noy, Madubuike–all to get theirs. And obviously made the highlight of the game.
We also recapped the weekend in picks, Glenn still in last place, but with 16 games remaining in the football season, he trails Paul Valle by two games:
