Here at Glenn Clark Radio, we always reflect on the Baltimore Ravens game in a more jovial manner. In retrospect, we like to choose five players on the team who — depending on the outcome of the game — deserve a Pat On The Ass or Slap To The Helmet.
The rules are simple: pick two players on defense, two players on offense, and one “wild card” (an offensive player, defensive player, special teamer or coach) who stuck out from the pack.
As you know, the Ravens beat the Cardinals in the dessert Sunday in 31-24 in a game that wasn’t quite as close as the scoreboard indicates, as a result, we have some Ass Pats to hand out.
They will count down in sequential order before we name the ultimate prize — Two Pats on the Ass. That one player who one single Pat just wouldn’t sit right.
Without further adieu:
Glenn’s Week 8 Pats on the Ass:
5. WR Rashod Bateman
Two weeks after we criticized him for the interception Lamar Jackson threw against the Titans, he made a remarkable play to steal away a catch that should have been an interception. Also, his blocking has been really good.
4. P Jordan Stout
48.4 yards per punt (including a 59 yarder), four of five punts inside the 20. When the Ravens went quiet offensively, he stepped up big time.
3. CB Brandon Stephens
The pick might have been a gift but the bigger gift is how he’s stepped up to help this team after he was (remember) supposed to be switching to safety.
2. RB Gus Edwards
The three touchdowns were helpful for fantasy football players but more importantly he shouldered the load when the Ravens needed to rely on the run game.
1. DT Michael Pierce (Man Of The Match)
Best player on the field. What an awesome story.
Griffin’s Week 8 Pats on the Ass:
5. QB Lamar Jackson
Even though it wasn’t the statistical output we expect, he was still putting throws right on the money all day. The throw to Agholor (that he dropped) was through a keyhole. Plus his legs are always a problem.
4. S Geno Stone
Marlon Humphrey called him DPOY on the victor IG live… Maybe a stretch but he joins Ed Reed as the only Ravens with 5 interceptions through 8 games of a season.
3. DT Justin Madubuike
6.5 sacks on the season now, the dude is just impressive to watch this season.
2. RB Gus Edwards
I guess he heard Ravens fans clamoring about Derrick Henry and Saquon Barkley. He ran great, a hat trick of touchdowns is just the icing on top.
1. DT Michael Pierce (Man Of The Match)
A one-man wrecking crew. So much fun to watch, a career day for Big Mike.
