Duvernay, Madubuike, Jackson Stand Out Amongst Ravens Most Deserving Of Praise In Win Over Jets

Here at Glenn Clark Radio, we always reflect on the Baltimore Ravens game in a more jovial manner.  In retrospect, we like to choose five players on the team who — depending on the outcome of the game — deserve a Pat On The Ass or Slap To The Helmet.

The rules are simple: pick two players on defense, two players on offense, and one “wild card” (an offensive player, defensive player, special teamer or coach) who stuck out from the pack.

As you all are surely aware, the Ravens beat the Jets decidedly to open up the season in Week 1, and as a result, we have some Ass Pats to hand out.

They will count down in sequential order before we name the ultimate prize — Two Pats on the Ass. That one player who one single Pat just wouldn’t sit right.

Without further adieu:

Glenn’s Pats on the Ass, Week 1:

5. DL Michael Pierce

Very active, very involved. It’s like he never left.

4. S Marcus Williams

Not only was the pick the first real momentum play of the game, he was also extraordinarily active.

3. QB Lamar Jackson

Perhaps not perfect and I’d still like to see him run a little more but Lamar made some brilliant throws and had command of the game on a day where the team couldn’t run.

2. DL Justin Madubuike

If this is who Justin Madubuike is going to be this season, he’s going to be an All-Pro. He was an absolute monster.

1. WR Devin Duvernay (pat on both cheeks)

The biggest story of the day yesterday. The Ravens need another wide receiver to step up and be a threat to force teams to pay attention.

Griffin Bass’s Pats on the Ass, Week 1:

5. DL Michael Pierce

Wasn’t really sure what we he was going to be and I felt like he was all over the field yesterday, he deserves the appreciation, had a forced fumble in there as well.

4. S Marcus Williams

The leading tackler, the interception, excellent Ravens debut.

3. WR Devin Duvernay

We were very worried about the receivers, still should be, but Duvernay showed that he’s a legit NFL receiver yesterday and will be able to make some big catches.

2. P Jordan Stout

But yesterday, the rookie punter who had to replace Sam Koch and step in to hold for the greatest kicker of all time looked incredible. It was especially noticeable because how bad the Jets punter did. Not ideal kicking conditions at all and he went out there and smashed the ball.

1. QB Lamar Jackson

No doubt, the Man of the Match…Lamar looked great, might have started slow but as the game went on he showed that he’s one of the best QBs in the NFL. What stood out most was second Duvernay touchdown after he stared down Andrews to draw the safety up proceeding to make a no-look pass to Duvernay for the score.
