You know the drill by now, but if you’re new, here at Glenn Clark Radio, we always try to reflect on the most recent Ravens game in a more convivial manner. In retrospect, we like to choose five players on the team who — depending on the outcome of the game — deserve a Pat On The Ass or Slap To The Helmet.
The rules are simple: pick two players on defense, two players on offense, and one “wild card” (an offensive player, defensive player, special teamer or coach) who stuck out from the pack.
We all bore witness, the Ravens lost 29-24 in Cleveland yesterday, as a result we have some Helmet Slaps to hand out.
They will count down in sequential order before we name the ultimate prize — Two Slaps To The Helmet. That one player who one single Slap just wouldn’t sit right.
Without further adieu:
Glenn’s Slaps To The Helmet:
5. Safety Kyle Hamilton
I absolutely hate that Kyle Hamilton, one of the few players who actually made an impact, is on this list. But you know what happened. It happened.
4. LT Ronnie Stanley
He had obviously been having an exceptional season up until this point. But he finally gave up a sack and had a couple of tough penalties.
3. WR Rashod Bateman
Quite similar. Great season. The sun was a legitimate factor. But what happened, happened.
2. DC Zach Orr
This is about the pressure. I can’t fault him for the dropped interceptions but this can’t happen.
1. Safety Eddie Jackson
Real chance we remember this for a little while as “The Eddie Jackson Game.”
Griffin’s Slaps To The Helmet:
5. CB Jalyn Armour-Davis
Had to fill-in for the team’s top two corners, so there’s a little bit of the ‘I’m not even supposed to be here’ bit, but he stunk man. NFL rejects Jerry Jeudy, Elijah Moore, and Cedric Tillman went for 250+ yards on him and the rest of the secondary.
4. LT Ronnie Stanley
Two penalties, allowed his first sack of the season. The second penalty, a false start backed them up right before Tucker’s missed field goal too…
3. WR Rashod Bateman
Bro.
2. OC Todd Monken
I hate having to go back to a play from the 1Q on the opening drive, but what on earth are we doing taking the ball out of Lamar Jackson’s hands in favor of the Mark Ingram wildcat play in New England a few years back. I assume we burned the Greg Roman playbook, but how did that play survive? The offense never got in rhythm, it was a 40-20 split in favor of pass plays to run plays, it felt off.
1. Safety Eddie Jackson
Not much needs to be said.
The guys recapped the week in ‘Picks’ as well on Monday, here is a look at the updated table:
