You know the drill by now, but if you’re new, here at Glenn Clark Radio, we always try to reflect on the most recent Ravens game in a more convivial manner. In retrospect, we like to choose five players on the team who — depending on the outcome of the game — deserve a Pat On The Ass or Slap To The Helmet.
The rules are simple: pick two players on defense, two players on offense, and one “wild card” (an offensive player, defensive player, special teamer or coach) who stuck out from the pack.
The Ravens unsurprisingly take care of business up in East Rutherford Sunday afternoon with a very ho-hum 35-14 win over the New York Giants who play in New Jersey. As a result, we have some Ass Pats to hand out.
They will count down in sequential order before we name the ultimate prize — Two Pats on the Ass. That one player who one single Pat just wouldn’t sit right.
Without further adieu:
Glenn’s Pats on the Ass:
5. DT Michael Pierce
This was tough because there were lots of good options for #5 like Mark Andrews and Kyle Van Noy and Justice Hill and Zay Flowers and even Tez Walker. But Pierce’s return was impactful from the first moment and I wanted him to get some recognition.
4. CB Nate Wiggins
He was strapped up. Outstanding.
3. Safety Ar’Darius Washington
Looking like more than just a good story. Looking like a guy that’s going to get paid.
2. WR Rashod Bateman
Obviously things have changed significantly for him.
1. QB Lamar Jackson (two pats)
He’s Lamar Jackson.
Griffin’s Pats on the Ass:
5. DL Michael Pierce
Didn’t necessarily show up in the stat sheet, but his return was felt. Giants couldn’t move the ball a lick on the ground, and if not for Oweh’s hands to the face penalty he would’ve started back-to-back sacks and probably keep the Giants out of the endzone altogether in the first half.
4. CB Nate Wiggins
A really impressive performance today from Nate Wiggins. Certainly earning more and more playing time, nothing more impressive than how he handled guarding Malik Nabers–who by the way is very legit.
3. Safety Ar’Darius Washington
Not only is he becoming a starting caliber NFL safety but a leader on the field as well. Barking at Stephens and Marlon when they screw up or drop interceptions. He deserved his pick at the end, and sealed the game.
2. WR Rashod Bateman
Boy does Bateman make really bad secondaries look REALLY bad. Heck of a day.
1. QB Lamar Jackson (two pats)
If you’re going to fumble on the opening drive of the game, five TDs to four incompletions is a pretty good way to bounce back.
We wrapped the weekend in ‘Picks’ as well. Glenn made up *a little bit* of ground with a nice week but still firmly at the bottom of the table. On to Week 16!
