Glenn and Griffin continued their new segment for the 2024 baseball season Monday on GCR with ‘Three Up and Three Down’ where we rank the best and worst Orioles performers of the week, much like how we do with Pats on the Ass and Slaps to the Helmet during football season after Ravens games. The guys will each name three players, three trending up, three trending down, based on how they did for that week specifically.
Without further adieu:
Glenn’s Three Up:
3. SP Albert Suarez
I mean, it was a miracle. He gets the nod over Cole Irvin because Irvin had another start that wasn’t so great.
2. RF Anthony Santander
We beat him up (fairly) last week so I felt even more inclined to include him this week after he had six extra base hits so he edged out Gunnar. He even got it done with the glove.
1. 3B Jordan Westburg
He went 11/23 with five extra base hits last week. Anthony Edwards thinks he’s on fire.
Griffin’s Three Up:
3. Closer Craig Kimbrel
He continues to be dominant, didn’t allow a base-runner in three innings. He’s obviously not Felix Bautista but this is working out quite well.
2. 3B Jordan Westburg
Best bat in the lineup this week. Can’t leave him out this rotation.
1. CF Cedric Mullins
No, you can’t escape him. He is just too valuable in everything he does, from robberies in the outfield to stealing bases and walk-off homers.
Glenn’s Three Down:
3. RP Yohan Ramirez
Yeah, his first appearance was okay but it’s tough to justify his roster spot right now.
2. RP Keegan Akin
This is a huge bummer because he had been off to such a phenomenal start to the season.
1. 2B Jackson Holliday
We can’t hide from it. It’s…not good.
Griffin’s Three Down:
3. RP Yohan Ramirez
Doesn’t get worse than the three-pitch sequence he had in KC Saturday, the caveat being, this guy should have never been here in the first place.
2. RP Keegan Akin
Hasn’t seemed to answer the call in the bigger spots, fives outs recorded in four appearances, five earned runs.
1. 2B Jackson Holliday
Not panicking yet, but at some point this will no longer be acceptable on a team of this caliber.
Here’s a look at the season-long standings. scoring is simple: 3 points awarded to the top player in ‘Three Up’ each week, -3 points for the top player in ‘Three Down’ each week:
