Here at Glenn Clark Radio, we always reflect on the Baltimore Ravens game in a more jovial manner. In retrospect, we like to choose five players on the team who — depending on the outcome of the game — deserve a Pat On The Ass or Slap To The Helmet.
The rules are simple: pick two players on defense, two players on offense, and one “wild card” (an offensive player, defensive player, special teamer or coach) who stuck out from the pack.
As you are surely aware, the Ravens lost to the Dolphins after leading by 21 points in the 4th quarter…teams with a 21-point lead in the 4th quarter were 711-0 since 2011 in that situation until yesterday (that courtesy of our friends over at ESPN Stats and Info). As a result, we have some Slaps to the Helmet to dish out.
They will count down in sequential order before we name the ultimate prize — Two Slaps to the Helmet. That one player who one single Slap just wouldn’t sit right.
Without further adieu:
Glenn’s Slaps to the Helmet, Week 2:
5. Center Tyler Linderbaum
The snap isn’t on him. Not getting any push, however, is. I understand he didn’t have a full preseason. I understand he’s a rookie. But he has to be better.
4. EDGE Odafe Oweh
They need their first round pick from a year ago to be a dynamic game changing disruptor in the backfield. That’s not what they’re getting (so far) this season.
3. Safety Kyle Hamilton
We’re two games in. There’s a long way to go. But this is not a good first impression.
2. RB Kenyan Drake
It’s really a tie between he and number one, I gave him number two because he technically averaged more per carry. Technically.
1. RB Mike Davis (two slaps)
It ain’t happening. Period.
Griffin’s Slaps to the Helmet, Week 2:
5. LG Ben Powers
I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the offensive line, they weren’t good. Could have singled out any one of them but with Powers being the longest tenured Raven there, it’s him.
4. RB Mike Davis
He’s not good, He’s the running back and our run game was non existent. 5 carries for 4 yards. Abysmal.
3. LB Patrick Queen
Queen can’t cover, he’s not a good tackler, he looks like the slowest guy on the field, this was a LB drafted in the first round for god’s sake, he’s barely been serviceable…plus, he wears #6.
2. Safety Kyle Hamilton
Hamilton blew both the Tyreek Hill touchdowns, there was miscommunication on his end. A safety was drafted 14th overall for plays like those not to happen.
1. Defensive Coordinator, Mike McDonald (two slaps)
Anytime you lose in a historical fashion, the coaching staff deserves a lot of the blame…Not calling for anyone’s job, it’s Week 2. Whether this one falls directly on Harbaugh or to McDonald, fingers will be pointed and it starts with the coach, I’ll point to the one that let up 28 points in the 4th quarter.
