Baseball season is back! And with is the return of ‘Three Up and Three Down’ where Glenn and Griffin recap the week that was in Orioles baseball. It’s quite simple, Monday on GCR the boys will rank their top performing Orioles each week, and some of the worst performing birds of the previous week. Much like in baseball, we will go ‘Three Up and Three Down’ ranking the top three best and bottom three worst Orioles performers based specifically the most recent week of baseball.

The Orioles go turn in a disappointing 7-game home stand ahead of their West Coast swing, splitting with the Mariners before dropping two of three to the Padres. Glenn and Griffin will discuss the pitching woes, and go over everyone worthy of mention in another edition of ‘Three Up and Three Down’ as we examine the team’s seven-day performance:

Glenn’s Three Up:

3. RP Tyler Wells

I was so torn between Cano and Wells for this spot. The run Cano gave up doesn’t really even count but Wells’ three inning effort on Thursday was spectacular (and maybe should put him in consideration for a rotation spot again?).

2. UTIL Blaze Alexander

8-15 for the week with a couple of doubles and his throw on Sunday was impressive even if the out call was overturned.

1. 1B Pete Alonso

He OPS-ed 1.169 this week with three home runs. It still feels like we’re missing the “hit a grand slam when the team was down by 3 in the 9th” moment that you look for from superstars and obviously he needs to perform better with RISP, but, he’s Pete Alonso.

Griffin’s Three Up:

3. 1B Pete Alonso

The RISP numbers at the beginning of the week were killer, but he really turned it around and I guess we should celebrate him finally coming through in 2-out RISP situation on Friday night and treat it as a success rather than an anomaly. Finished the week with 3 HRs and 8 RBI.

2. UTIL Blaze Alexander

Another extremely solid week, batting over .500 again, just seems to always be on base. He’s hot, maybe on fire, you could even say ablaze.

1. SP Brandon Young

The stopper, the ace, whatever you want to call it, it’s what he did Wednesday night: 7 scoreless IP, 5 strikeouts and only four baserunners allowed.

Glenn’s Three Down:

3. OF Colton Cowser

Just as we had proclaimed him “back,” yikes. He finished the week 2-21 with seven strikeouts and a .478 OPS.

2. 2B Jackson Holliday

How bad of a week does it have to be for you to be #2 on this list in a week where you had a grand slam? Other than that, he was 1-20 for the week. Even with the slam, he OPS-ed .440 for the week.

1. SP Kyle Bradish

So, like, this is a thing now?

Griffin’s Three Down:

3. RP Rico Garcia

Have to call a spade, a spade here. Rico was not good this week, gave up the homer Tuesday in extras which was kind of fluky, a good pitch off the plate, but then couldn’t get out of his inning on Thursday only going 0.2 IP and then obviously allowed another homer Sunday to something called Rodolfo Duran.

2. SP Trey Gibson

Made two starts and failed to escape the 5th inning in either… You could argue he should’ve been allowed to go another couple batters on Monday but he didn’t and now ends the week with a 9.00 ERA.

1. SP Kyle Bradish

Just not good enough again, man. He’s supposed to be the man and that’s why he’s number one, the disappointment has been immense.
