On Friday during Glenn Clark Radio, Griffin, Glenn, and Stan ‘The Fan’ came up with and answered some questions regarding the Orioles second half, making some predictions for how the season ends, as well who each believe will win the World Series. Whoever comes in last owes the other two a Glory Days Grill lunch. Let’s get into it:
Question #1: Will Jordan Lyles be an Oriole after August 2?
- Stan ‘The Fan’ Charles: Yes.
- Glenn: No.
- Griffin: No.
Question #2: Will Jorge Lopez be an Oriole after August 2?
- Stan: Yes.
- Glenn: No.
- Griffin: Yes.
Question #3: Will Trey Mancini be an Oriole after 8/2?
- Stan: Yes.
- Glenn: No.
- Griffin: No.
Question #4: When is the first time we see DL Hall on a major league mound?
- Stan: Monday July 25 vs Rays
- Glenn: Friday August 5 vs Pirates
- Griffin: Thursday August 18 vs Cubs
Question #5: Do we see Gunnar Henderson play for the Orioles this season?
- Stan: No
- Glenn: Yes
- Griffin: Yes
Question #6: Orioles win total?
- Stan: 74 wins
- Glenn: 73 wins
- Griffin: 78 wins
Question #7: World Series matchup and winner? (1 point for team making it and one point for winner correct)
- Stan: Mets over Astros
- Glenn: Astros over Mets
- Griffin: Yankees over Mets
Question #8: Who will be the media-voted Orioles MVP?
- Stan: Jorge Lopez
- Glenn: Austin Hays
- Griffin: Adley Rutschman
As you can see, Glenn and Stan are on vastly different sides of the spectrum when it comes to what the Orioles should do at the trade deadline. Glenn thinks the Orioles will sell, Stan firmly believes everyone in an O’s uniform will stay in that uniform, and Griffin, well, he doesn’t want to make up his mind. Griffin isn’t quite as bullish on DL Hall’s arrival as Stan and Glenn but along with Glenn, he does think Gunnar Henderson comes up before the end of the year. Interestingly, Glenn and Stan both have the Astros and the Mets in the World Series, but Glenn takes the Astros and Stan backing Buck Showalter’s Mets. Griffin sees the Yankees taking down the Mets as all three don’t want to see the Dodgers in the World Series again. Finally, Stan, who does in fact vote on Orioles MVP, believes Jorge Lopez is the MVP of this team. Glenn thinks the best player all season has been Austin Hays and he’ll carry that through the September, while Griffin goes with a bit of a dark horse in Adley Rutschman, citing the record change after Rutschman’s arrival to the bigs on May 21.
