Baseball season is back! And with is the return of ‘Three Up and Three Down’ where Glenn and Griffin recap the week that was in Orioles baseball. It’s quite simple, Monday on GCR the boys will rank their top performing Orioles each week, and some of the worst performing birds of the previous week. Much like in baseball, we will go ‘Three Up and Three Down’ ranking the top three best and bottom three worst Orioles performers based specifically the most recent week of baseball.

Despite the Orioles turning in a modest ‘Three Up and Three Down’ week of their own, we come out feeling relatively positive about the birds after taking two of three from the NL-leading Dodgers in LA. Glenn and Griffin go over the best and worst performers of the week as we look back at the week that was in Orioles baseball:

Glenn’s Three Up:

3. SP Kyle Bradish

You know a lot of stuff happened in the week when a starter allows just one run over 7.2 innings and he’s still only third on the list.

2. INF/OF Blaze Alexander

I was torn about leaving Colton Cowser off the list but Blaze OPS-ed 1.088 and is basically the Team MVP at this point and couldn’t be left off the list.

1. SP Trevor Rogers

After how they lost Friday night and going up against Yoshinobu Yamamoto and the Dodgers’ lineup, that is one of the best pitching performances in modern Orioles history. (Unless they fall apart again and then we’ll have forgotten about it entirely but still.)

Griffin’s Three Up:

3. UTIL Blaze Alexander

Undoubtedly the best offensive player of the week, plus had the big hit Saturday night.

2. SP Trevor Rogers

Taking a no-hitter into the 5th inning in your Dodger Stadium debut and proceeding to toss seven scoreless makes you believe he can come close to the 2025 version of Trevor Rogers.

1. SP Kyle Bradish

A career night is very much worthy of the top spot on this list. Masterful vs the Mariners.

Glenn’s Three Down:

3. C Samuel Basallo

I thought about making this O’Neill because of the throw Friday night but yeesh, he had four at-bats all week. Basallo HAD to stop that ball. He had to. And he OPS-ed just .581 for the week so he gets the spot.

2. 3B Coby Mayo

It was a tough week because only one guy was flatly awful. But Mayo went 1-11 with five strikeouts, getting the next spot.

1. RP Ryan Helsley

Yeah, that was disastrous. Hopefully it’s out of his system.

Griffin’s Three Down:

3. C Adley Rutschman

I was very hesitant to put Adley on the list because obviously he didn’t play the Dodgers series but he was not good prior to the injury in Seattle, 1-for-12 at the plate is not enough on what was a very balanced offensive Orioles attack.

2. 3B Coby Mayo

Was not good at the plate, struck out five times and also helped contribute to Saturday night’s nearly blown game with the booted ball at third base (somehow not an error).

1. Closer Ryan Helsley

Well, that’s not what Closers are supposed to do.
