Baseball season is back! And with is the return of ‘Three Up and Three Down’ where Glenn and Griffin recap the week that was in Orioles baseball. It’s quite simple, Monday on GCR the boys will rank their top performing Orioles each week, and some of the worst performing birds of the previous week. Much like in baseball, we will go ‘Three Up and Three Down’ ranking the top three best and bottom three worst Orioles performers based specifically the most recent week of baseball.
Orioles won their first two games of the week over the Astros before turning in some pretty uninspring play in the finale against Houston and in the Bronx vs the Yankees. Plenty to be concerned about, but there were still some encouraging performances as well, let’s see Glenn and Griffin saw the squad stacking up after a 2-4 week:
Glenn’s Three Up:
3. 1B Pete Alonso
OPS-ed over 1.300 for the week. It’s a real shame he woke up in New York and it’s been completely wasted.
2. SP Shane Baz
It’s probably easy to forget that he was great (one run on six hits and a walk) in 5.2 innings against the Astros Tuesday night.
1. SP Chris Bassitt
And it’s easy to forget that he was even better (one run on seven hits and a walk) over 6.2 innings in Game 1 of the doubleheader Thursday.
Griffin’s Three Up:
3. 1B Pete Alonso
Pete had his best week as an Oriole, so that’s nice.
2. SP Shane Baz
Gave up one run while pitching into the 6th inning, compared to the rest of the rotation, he might as well be Nolan Ryan.
1. SP Chris Bassitt
What an inspiring performance in Game 1 of Thursday’s doubleheader, made us believe it actually mattered that he ‘saved’ the bullpen by pitching into the 7th inning only allowing one run.
Glenn’s Three Down:
3. SS Gunnar Henderson
Seven more strikeouts in a week where he hit .200 and let’s be honest, some of the at-bats are just…non-competitive. He OPS-ed .538 for the week But hey, maybe you could sign him to a team-friendly extension after all?
2. 3B Coby Mayo
1-16 with seven strikeouts and I’m just not sure if a reset even helps.
1. SP Kyle Bradish
10 baserunners, five earned runs over four innings when the Orioles desperately needed a big start in New York.
Griffin’s Three Down:
3. 3B Coby Mayo
The rest of the pitching was so bad that Mayo almost escaped my wrath this week, but he looked awful, at the plate, in the field, everywhere. Especially disappointing after how encouraging last week was.
2. RP Andrew Kittredge
The pitching this week was too abysmal to not have multiple pitchers on this, so the guy with the worst outing of anyone makes the list. Nothing about him was sharp this week. Even Tuesday vs Houston, he had to intentionally walk Yordan Alvarez to load the bases and then by the grace of god struck out the side. Then there was Sunday, entering in a one-run game, exiting with Albernaz managing to avoid a sweep Monday.

Well, it is Star Wars Day:
