Glenn and Griffin continue our Monday tradition for the 2024 baseball season Monday on GCR with ‘Three Up and Three Down’ where we rank the best and worst Orioles performers of the week, much like how we do with Pats on the Ass and Slaps to the Helmet during football season after Ravens games. The guys will each name three players, three trending up, three trending down, based on how they did for that week specifically. Offense once again is nowhere to be found, some solid pitching not enough as the O’s go 2-4 in road trips to Boston and Detroit.
Oh and good news! Three Up And Three Down is now presented by Costas Inn! Every Monday we’ll be giving away a $50 gift card for someone who participates so you can try delicious things like THE CRAB TOWER.
Without further adieu:
Glenn’s Three Up:
3. SS Gunnar Henderson
He was really good (.979 OPS) and yet the offense was so bad that it just don’t feel like he really could have been.
2. SP Dean Kremer
It unfortunately didn’t matter because the Orioles blew it in the 10th but his seven inning, one run start was great.
1. SP Corbin Burnes
Seven shutout innings with two hits and one walk. If the Orioles were even decent right now we’d be excited that perhaps their ace is back.
Griffin’s Three Up:
3. SP Corbin Burnes
Too little, too late. Good start though. Came dangerously close to throwing Livan Soto here.
2. SP Dean Kremer
Really impressive effort in Fenway.
1. SS Gunnar Henderson
Thanks for not letting us get no-hit.
Glenn’s Three Down:
3. RP Burch Smith
I think we’ve moved past his usefulness.
2. 2B Jackson Holliday
The defense is a problem. And then he was 1-12. It’s just not great.
1. 1B Ryan O’Hearn
Also the defense. Also the offense (2-21).
Griffin’s Three Down:
3. 2B Jackson Holliday
Just not quite ready. Overmatched at the plate, and by the moment in the field–horrific error in extras on Wednesday night
2. OF Colton Cowser
Put together a competitive at-bat before the 8th inning challenge (impossible)
1. 1B Ryan O’Hearn
A platoon player, at best. No longer hitting, period. Suboptimal first base play. It’s a disaster.
Here’s a look at the season-long standings. Scoring is simple: 3 points awarded to the top player in ‘Three Up’ each week (then 2 points and 1 point), -3 points for the top player in ‘Three Down’ each week (then -2 points and -1 point):
