For the 15th consecutive year, Glenn Clark Radio and DrewsMorningDish.com are partnering to benefit Helping Up Mission. You all have been so insanely supportive of our efforts over the years. It has been humbling. If you need a reminder, this was what it looked like three years ago…
If you don’t know, one morning in 2009 Drew Forrester and I were hosting our morning show on 1570am. Drew said “I feel like we should try to do something.” The idea was to collect coats. Drew wanted to simply drive them around the city and drop them off with folks that appeared to be cold. I told Drew I liked the idea “but I think we can do it better.” Enter Tony Young (“Tony from Rosedale”) who introduced us to HUM and the rest was history.
We’ve been collecting coats and clothes ever since with overwhelming results.
Last year…we need something a little different. You guys had given us so much over the years that Helping Up did not actually need more clothes! Instead, it was time for us to start donating toiletries and underwear.
This year, the ask is the same. Toiletries and underwear. These are overwhelmingly items that need to be purchased. That’s a more difficult ask than simply emptying your closet as we had asked in previous years. But you guys have also come through for us starting during the 2020 pandemic with big donations. So we’re going to ask you to do that once more.
My personal goal is to again raise $3,000 to spend on toiletries and underwear. The fine folks at Target in White Marsh have partnered with us the last couple of years to make our money go a little bit further. And we’re going to shoot to collect $2,500 of that via our annual “Help Us Help Helping Up” raffle. Thank you once again to my friend Kris Ruhling of Great 8’s Memorabilia for supplying some amazing raffle prizes. They include this full sized Ravens helmet autographed by a number of members of the 2023 team, including Odafe Oweh, Patrick Ricard, Justin Madubuike, Brandon Stephens, and Tyus Bowser (with more to come)…
But that’s not all Great 8’s Memorabilia has donated! In addition, they are hosting a “Rollin’ With Santa” bowling party on Dec. 16 that will include a meet & greet with Ravens RB Keaton Mitchell and CB Brandon Stephens. TWO additional winners will be selected from the raffle and the winner and a guest will join my lane at this awesome event! (You can also get your tickets at Great8sMemorabilia.com.)
And a fourth and fifth winner will also be selected to receive two free rounds of golf (cart included) at Baltimore’s Classic Five golf courses.
UPDATE: Rams Head Live has now offered to supply a winner with two tickets to the Dec. 13 “Jingle Y’all” show with Walker Hayes and Scotty McCreery! This show is SOLD OUT!
