Baseball season is back! And with is the return of ‘Three Up and Three Down’ where Glenn and Griffin recap the week that was in Orioles baseball. It’s quite simple, Monday on GCR the boys will rank their top performing Orioles each week, and some of the worst performing birds of the previous week. Much like in baseball, we will go ‘Three Up and Three Down’ ranking the top three best and bottom three worst Orioles performers based specifically the most recent week of baseball.
Not a large sample size with Opening Day last Thursday, but the O’s played three games and took two of three from the Minnesota Twins in Baltimore. We’ll stack up who did the best, and who did the worst after the first three games of the 2026 season:
Glenn’s Three Up:
3. RP Anthony Nunez
It’s not just that he went two scoreless, it’s that he had complete FILTH in his two scoreless and was incredibly eye-opening.
2. C Adley Rutschman
Just a really encouraging start to the season. It doesn’t guarantee anything, but no one needs to get off to a good start more than Adley does.
1. SP Trevor Rogers
He wasn’t brilliant…but he was brilliant. Maybe he CAN post a sub-2.00 ERA for a full season???
Griffin’s Three Up:
3. RP Anthony Nunez
Not much to disagree about with Glenn on the ‘Up’ list. Nunez was awesome to watch. I could listen to argument for Tyler O’Neill being in this spot, I guess? But I’m pretty anti-O’Neill until I see some level of consistency in his game here.
2. C Adley Rutschman
After how disappointing last season, it felt like a revelation watching Adley at the plate this past weekend.
1. SP Trevor Rogers
Glenn’s Three Down:
3. RP Tyler Wells
Not going to over-react but a disappointing start for someone who is, I guess, the primary set-up man at least until Kittredge returns.
2. SP Shane Baz
Also particularly disappointing because it came on the heels of the extension.
1. LF Taylor Ward
It’s one thing that he was 1-11. It’s another that he wholly lacked urgency on the triple on Opening Day.
Griffin’s Three Down:
3. RP Tyler Wells
He was not sharp, especially disappointing because we’ve been building him up to be a massive piece of this bullpen and the team’s success. The good news is there is a ton of baseball left.
2. LF Taylor Ward
I’m not going war on Ward like Glenn did, but 1-for-11 at the plate with six K’s, not great!
1. SS Gunnar Henderson
Gunnar one-upped Ward by going 1-for-12 at the plate while also punching out six times, plus he had a 9th inning error in there. I’m not worried, but it was a rough start, and with such a limited sample size this week, one of the most disappointing parts of the week was him popping out with the bases loaded.
