Griffin convinced Glenn to revive the segment last season after a hiatus from the program for a few years, and it’s relatively simple how it works: on Tuesdays following Sunday’s game, we will sit down and map out the Five Plays That Told The Story Of Sunday’s Game.

It’s as simple as it sounds, if the Ravens lose, we’ll pick the five plays that we perceived embodied the loss, not all necessarily scoring plays, sometimes no scoring plays. And of course on the inverse, when the Ravens win, the five plays that most embodied the win.

The Ravens make it back-to-back wins out of the bye, taking care of business in pretty convincing fashion as they defeated the Dolphins 28-6 in primetime. Here are the Five Plays That Told The Story of the game according Glenn Clark and Griffin Bass:

Glenn’s Five Plays That Told The Story of Sunday’s Game:

5. 0:41 – 2nd (4th & 2 at BAL 21) J. Stout punts 63 yards to MIA 16, Center-N. Moore. M. Washington to MIA 19 for 3 yards (T. Tampa).

I can’t believe we’re in a world where we had multiple Jordan Stout punts to choose from. It was a one possession game late in the 2nd quarter and punting from the 21, they needed to flip the field to prevent Miami from having a chance to get points late. This punt netted them SIXTY and Miami ran out of time to try to get points.

4. 11:30 – 2nd (3rd & 16 at MIA 42) (Shotgun) T. Tagovailoa pass short left to D. Achane to MIA 47 for 5 yards (R. Smith).

I wanted to put this higher on the list because of the quality of the play. This is the one where Roquan had to take out the blocker before he could even get to Achane. Is it likely that Achane would have gotten all 16 had he not? I guess not likely. But given Achane’s shiftiness, it’s non-zero. And given where they were, had he got 6-7 more, they may well have gone for it on 4th down.

3. 8:25 – 1st (4th & Goal at MIA 2) L. Jackson pass short right to M. Andrews for 2 yards, TOUCHDOWN. T. Loop extra point is GOOD, Center-N. Moore, Holder-J. Stout.

Given the Ravens’ goal-to-go issues of recent weeks, I shudder to think about what it might have done to them had they not finally converted on 4th down here.

2. 13:35 – 3rd (3rd & 6 at BAL 36) (Shotgun) L. Jackson scrambles left tackle to BLT 49 for 13 yards (T. Dodson). MIA-J. Jones was injured during the play.

This was John Harbaugh’s argument for number one and I get it. They had been fairly inconsistent offensively in the first half and looked like they were going to have to punt it back to start the third quarter.

1. 9:46 – 1st (2nd & 7 at MIA 7) (Shotgun) T. Tagovailoa pass short right to T. Washington to MIA 18 for 11 yards (A. Gilman; T. Buchanan). FUMBLES (A. Gilman), RECOVERED by BLT-A. Gilman at MIA 18. A. Gilman to MIA 7 for 11 yards (T. Washington, G. Dulcich).

It never REALLY felt in doubt after this.

Griffin’s Five Plays That Told The Story of Sunday’s Game:

5. 2-yd Run 12:51 – 1st (Shotgun) D.Achane right end to BLT 31 for 2 yards (M.Starks). 3rd & 6 at BAL 33

Much like last week vs Chicago, the defense gave up a long drive to start the game but forced a field goal at the end of it, which is huge for the mental of the defense and set the tone the rest of the way.

4. 35-yd Pass 0:03 – 1st (Shotgun) L.Jackson pass short right to I.Likely pushed ob at MIA 23 for 35 yards (D.Trader). 3rd & 4 at BAL 42

Something big was coming Likely’s way at some point, just wasn’t sure when. And you needed it here, because the offense was sluggish in the first hal and this was was first full-length touchdown drive.

3. Fumble Recovery 11:11 – 4th M.Washington right end to BLT 11 for 3 yards (T.Buchanan, M.Humphrey). FUMBLES (M.Humphrey), RECOVERED by BLT-M.Humphrey at BLT 10. 1st & 10 at BAL 14

I know it was 28-6, but Miami was driving and if they score it’s a two-score game. After this fumble, they had nothing left.

2. 13-yd Run 13:35 – 3rd (Shotgun) L.Jackson scrambles left tackle to BLT 49 for 13 yards (T.Dodson). MIA-J.Jones was injured during the play. 3rd & 6 at BAL 36

Lamar doing Lamar things, scrambling on third down. Monumental play.

1. Fumble Recovery 9:46 – 1st (Shotgun) T.Tagovailoa pass short right to T.Washington to MIA 18 for 11 yards (A.Gilman; T.Buchanan). FUMBLES (A.Gilman), RECOVERED by BLT-A.Gilman at MIA 18. A.Gilman to MIA 7 for 11 yards (T.Washington; G.Dulcich). 2nd & 7 at MIA 7

Heck of play form Gilman. Massive swing because outside of one drive, the offense didn’t do much in the first half. Play of the game.
