Glenn and Griffin are bringing back our tradition we started last year for this 2025 baseball season Mondays on GCR with ‘Three Up and Three Down’ where we rank the best and worst Orioles performers of the week, much like how we do with Pats on the Ass and Slaps to the Helmet during football season after Ravens games. The guys will each name three players, three trending up, three trending down, based on how they did for that week specifically.
The Orioles take care of business, sweeping the Pittsburgh Pirates before being swept North of the border in Toronto vs the AL East leading Blue Jays, going 3-3 before Glenn and Griffin share their ‘Three Up and Three Down’ for the week:
Glenn’s Three Up:
3. OF Dylan Beavers
He delivered game winning hits on both Wednesday and Thursday, which was much fun.
2. SP Kyle Bradish
Just one run and six baserunners over seven innings. Tremendous.
1. SP Tyler Wells
He’s been great in his first two starts, allowing just one hit over 6.2 innings against the Pirates Wednesday.
Griffin’s Three Up:
3. OF Dylan Beavers
At first glance, my feeling was this: none of these players on offense deserve to be on the list, I get it, the Blue Jays are the best team in the AL, but before that they had only scored the absolute minimum they needed in order to beat the lowly Pirates. Since Rogers only went five innings in Toronto, I defaulted back to Beavers, had a walk-off, a go-ahead hit and roped a double off Paul Skenes, the best pitcher in baseball.
2. SP Tyler Wells
It was the Pirates, but one of the most encouraging things from this week in Orioles baseball.
1. SP Kyle Bradish
The most encouraging thing from this week in Orioles baseball.
Glenn’s Three Down:
3. OF Colton Cowser
For what it’s worth, he did take (by Cowser standards) an absolutely staggering four walks this week. But he finished just 2-20 in the rest of his plate appearances.
2. 3B Emmanuel Rivera
Unfortunately he wasn’t able to build off of his walk-off heroics on September 6, as he reached base just twice in 16 plate appearances this week.
1. RP Yennier Cano
Before the Saturday blowup, he had blown the save Tuesday by allowing a game tying home run to Tommy Pham.
Griffin’s Three Down:
3. C Samuel Basallo
It wasn’t a great week offensively for the boys, so take your pick, but since he went 3-for-24 and had the catcher’s inference to extend the 9th inning Saturday, it’s gotta be the kid.
2. OF Colton Cowser
Not the only guy with a two-hit week, but since he struck out the most and made an error in CF he gets the vaunted 2-spot, four walks or not.
1. RP Yennier Cano
Far and away the worst player this week. Blew Bradish’s gem on Tuesday night and forced extras before absolutely pissing down his leg vs Toronto Saturday afternoon. Cannot continue putting him in these spots.
We’re in the the throws of the NFL season now so no audio for the boys this week… but here’s a look at the season-long standings. Scoring is simple: 3 points awarded to the top player in ‘Three Up’ each week (then 2 points and 1 point), -3 points for the top player in ‘Three Down’ each week (then -2 points and -1 point):
