Initially, Cal Ripken Didn’t Want To Do In-Game Lap During 2131. But As 30th Anniversary Approaches, He’s Glad Teammates Pushed Him

Orioles legend/Baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr. (Aberdeen) was a guest on Glenn Clark Radio Wednesday.

Among the topics he discussed were:
-Next weekend’s 30th anniversary celebration of his 2,131st consecutive game to break Lou Gehrig’s record
-Being reluctant to take the in game lap but appreciative that Rafael Palmeiro and Bobby Bonilla pushed him to
-How the moment resonates more with him 30 years later than it did then
-What it meant to be able to give Jim Gott the ball back recently from Game 1 of the streak (which happened to be Gott’s first career win)
-His confidence that the Orioles’ ownership team will do what’s necessary to fix things after a difficult season
