Glenn and Griffin are bringing back our tradition we started last year for this 2025 baseball season Mondays on GCR with ‘Three Up and Three Down’ where we rank the best and worst Orioles performers of the week, much like how we do with Pats on the Ass and Slaps to the Helmet during football season after Ravens games. The guys will each name three players, three trending up, three trending down, based on how they did for that week specifically.
The birds do it again, another winning week as the team continues to slowly try and turn the fortune of the 2025 season. After a sweep of the Angels, the Orioles put together their most complete list yet giving Glenn and Griffin their toughest test yet with narrowing it down to just three ‘Up’ players and finding out who the three ‘Down’ players are:
Glenn’s Three Up:
3. 3B Ramón Urías
Every now and then you’ll ask yourself “are we still doing the whole Ramón Urías thing?” And then typically that’s when he’ll hit a couple of huge home runs and flash some leather again.
2. RP Seranthony Dominguez
He made three appearances and pitched three shutout innings, allowing just one walk and no hits. His back to back strikeouts with the bases loaded Sunday were sublime.
1. 3B Jordan Westburg
Welcome back. Westburg OPS-ed 1.251 for the week with three home runs and made some outstanding defensive plays in the process.
Griffin’s Three Up:
3. RP Seranthony Dominguez
It came down to not being able to pick a second hitter, and the bullpen continues to be strong–one of the big reasons for the better run of form. And Dominguez was the best of the bunch, one baserunner all week and getting out of the bases loaded jam yesterday made you actually feel something about this team for a change.
2. SP Zach Eflin
Completely devoured a really good Tigers lineup. He was incredibly.
1. INF Jordan Westburg
He’s really good and this team really needs him.
Glenn’s Three Down:
3. OF Colton Cowser
Perhaps he needs a little more time. He had just one hit over eleven at bats and struck out six times in the three games he played.
2. 2B Jackson Holliday
It was a nice week because there really weren’t a lot of options for this list. Holliday had a rough week (.545 OPS) with as many strikeouts (5) as he had hits. But there would have been other weeks where that might have been god enough to be on the UP list.
1. SP/RP Cade Povich
Reliever Cade Povich was really good on Sunday! Unfortunately starter Cade Povich was a disaster in the first loss to the Tigers, clinching this top spot in an otherwise good week.
Griffin’s Three Down:
3. SP Tomoyuki Sugano
Fortunately, not a lot of good options, so Sugano makes the list with a very poor start by his standards on Saturday and not being able to escape the 5th inning.
2. SP Cade Povich
He was good yesterday facing a shorter lineup in fewer innings but that was after losing the game on Tuesday, against a strong Tigers lineup. Not a lot of options for ‘down’ performers this week, which is good!
1. OF Colton Cowser
12 plate appearances and struck out in half of them. The team is better with him though and he’s a guy who needs at-bats, so hopefully ‘soreness’ resolves swiftly.
Here’s a look at the season-long standings. Scoring is simple: 3 points awarded to the top player in ‘Three Up’ each week (then 2 points and 1 point), -3 points for the top player in ‘Three Down’ each week (then -2 points and -1 point):
