Glenn and Griffin are bringing back our tradition we started last season for the 2025 baseball season Monday on GCR with ‘Three Up and Three Down’ where we rank the best and worst Orioles performers of the week, much like how we do with Pats on the Ass and Slaps to the Helmet during football season after Ravens games. The guys will each name three players, three trending up, three trending down, based on how they did for that week specifically.
Another two-win week for the O’s, the only problem, they didn’t only have four games like last week. Orioles go 2-4 on the week dropping series’ to the Red Sox and Royals, falling to 4-6 on the season, and without further adieu:
Glenn’s Three Up:
3. 1B Ryan Mountcastle
He hit .426 this week! Would be nice to see some more power but the triple was fun.
2. INF Jackson Holliday
Speaking of triples! A huge week where he hit .400 and OPS-ed 1.000.
1. OF Cedric Mullins
There’s a reason you were so pissed off that he wasn’t in the lineup Sunday.
Griffin’s Three Up:
3. SP Tomoyuki Sugano
I was not sold after the first start in Toronto, I know he was cramping, but either way it was not good. Saturday was fantastic for five innings and leaves me far more encouraged moving forward.
2. 2B/SS Jackson Holliday
He looked so good Saturday and that’s what I’ve been wanting to see, the continuation of his progression. A real bummer that he didn’t get a chance Sunday.
1. CF Cedric Mullins
Absolutely no reason whatsoever to keep him out of the lineup… Huge day on Monday in front of the home Opening Day crowd, then consistency through the week, and he catches fly balls, sometimes ones that aren’t even hit at him!
Glenn’s Three Down:
3. OF/SS Jorge Mateo
Recency bias, yes. But that was…really bad. And he’s not making up for it at the plate.
2. SS Gunnar Henderson
I know he only played three games, but…yuck.
1. RP Cionel Pérez
Just a disastrous start to the season.
Griffin’s Three Down:
3. CF(?) Jorge Mateo
I’m getting mad just thinking about it.
2. SS Gunnar Henderson
Originally wasn’t going to put him here, definitely was going to give him the pass for coming off injury, but 1/13, 7 strikeouts is near Rafael Devers-like (who is hitting now, btw).
2. SP Charlie Morton
Props for getting through 5 innings?… I guess he did have 10 strikeouts, but was serving actual meatballs. Not good all-around here.
Here’s a look at the season-long standings. Scoring is simple: 3 points awarded to the top player in ‘Three Up’ each week (then 2 points and 1 point), -3 points for the top player in ‘Three Down’ each week (then -2 points and -1 point):
