You know the drill by now, but if you’re new, here at Glenn Clark Radio, we always try to reflect on the most recent Ravens game in a more convivial manner.  In retrospect, we like to choose five players on the team who — depending on the outcome of the game — deserve a Pat On The Ass or Slap To The Helmet.

The rules are simple: pick two players on defense, two players on offense, and one “wild card” (an offensive player, defensive player, special teamer or coach) who stuck out from the pack.

After last night’s thriller of a Thursday Night Football game, we thankfully have some Pats on the Ass to dish out as the Ravens edged the Bengals in an AFC North bout, 35-34.

They will count down in sequential order before we name the ultimate prize — Two Pats on the Ass. That one player who one single Pat just wouldn’t sit right.

Without further adieu:

Glenn’s Pats on the Ass:

5. WR Rashod Bateman

There were a few options for the fifth spot. Mark Andrews was rock solid. Odafe Oweh was active as hell. Even Ronnie Stanley had a fine night. But Bateman’s big game stood out in particular as more valuable because it helped wash away the taste of the disaster in Cleveland.

4. DL Nnamdi Madubuike

We had been waiting for this. Hopefully it’s a sign of things to come.

3. WR Tylan Wallace

This is particularly interesting because when Deonte Harty returns, I don’t know if there will be room on the roster for all of these wide receivers. He absolutely needed to take advantage of his opportunity.

2. CB Marlon Humphrey

When we get around to “Five Plays” on Monday (and it’s a lot to remember for that long), we’re really only talking about the OTHER four plays on the list. (Actually, Wallace will be #2 so we’re really talking about three plays I guess.)

1. QB Lamar Jackson (two pats)

Holy shit.

Griffin’s Pats on the Ass:

5. TE Mark Andrews

That go-ahead TD was amazing. And he was great all night obviously, clearly Lamar and him are not out of sync at all, felt like every single catch he had was for a 1st down. And back to the TD, apparently a completely improvised play:

4. CB Marlon Humphrey

The forced fumble was essentially a scoring play. Just a huge play. The whole team mentioned it as the turning point. I really wanted to make an argument for putting Ar’Darius Washington here, had a strong night plus the game-winning PBU, but Marlon can’t be kept off the list.

3. WR Tylan Wallace

Couldn’t believe we were wasting touches on him after his first catch. The next series, boy did he stick it to me. Heck of a game and added another big grab on top of the enormous play mounting the comeback.

2. DL Nnamdi Madubuike

The stat line speaks for itself, had Joe Burrow under durress all night, teams remain unable to run the football against this front, but no play bigger to me than his third sack. At the very end of the 3Q, forced the Bengals out of field goal range keeping three points (at least!) off the board.

1. QB Lamar Jackson (two pats)

What’s the point of Pats on the Ass when we all know what #1 is going to be?
