Glenn and Griffin continue our Monday tradition for the 2024 baseball season Monday on GCR with ‘Three Up and Three Down’ where we rank the best and worst Orioles performers of the week, much like how we do with Pats on the Ass and Slaps to the Helmet during football season after Ravens games. The guys will each name three players, three trending up, three trending down, based on how they did for that week specifically–the birds go 3-4 this week, in a very ‘meh’ fashion.
Oh and good news! Three Up And Three Down is now presented by Costas Inn! Every Monday we’ll be giving away a $50 gift card for someone who participates so you can try delicious things like THE CRAB TOWER.
Without further adieu:
Glenn’s Three Up:
3. RF Anthony Santander
If we’re being honest, it was a BAD week for Santander (4/27, .577 OPS). Still, the grand slam felt like it gave significant reprieve. That alone gets him on this list.
2. SP Dean Kremer
Perhaps he wasn’t brilliant in the Sunday night start but he was still really good over his two starts. He allowed four earned runs over 12 innings, posting a very respectable 1.17 WHIP in the process.
1. 3B Ramón Urías
I can’t believe “where would the Orioles be without the second half Ramón Urías has had?” is a question we’re asking.
Griffin’s Three Up:
3. SP Dean Kremer
Tuesday’s start was great, NEEDED it. Sunday night wasn’t as great but gave the team a chance to win, and at this point, that seems to be all we can ask for from the rotation with QS’s fewer and farther in between.
2. OF Colton Cowser
Led the team in hits in what was, again, a very ‘meh’ week. And beating out the infield hit to get Holliday to the plate Saturday was big.
1. 3B Ramón Urías
Shame they couldn’t win either game, but a great week for Ramòn. They’ve needed this, stepping in for Westburg. The defense hasn’t been great, but with some very timely hits land him #1 this week.
Glenn’s Three Down:
3. RP Burch Smith
Burch Smith was fun while it lasted.
2. SP Corbin Burnes
Now we have to acknowledge concern.
1. 1B Ryan O’Hearn
Sure, technically Jackson Holliday (1/20) was worse than his 1/14 but, you know, Holliday’s 1 was a very big 1. O’Hearn hasn’t homered since July 20.
Griffin’s Three Down:
3. RP Burch Smith
He was always found money, and now he’s pitching like a guy who would be named Burch Smith.
2. SP Corbin Burnes
Trevor Rogers and Cade Povich were no good this week either, but there’s expectations that come with being Corbin Burnes.
1. 1B Ryan O’Hearn
Mountcastle was unavailable this weekend and O’Hearn was nowhere to be found, I know it was a lefty on the mound, but it’s gotten to the point where they’re starting EMMANUEL RIVERA over him at 1B.

Here’s a look at the season-long standings. Scoring is simple: 3 points awarded to the top player in ‘Three Up’ each week (then 2 points and 1 point), -3 points for the top player in ‘Three Down’ each week (then -2 points and -1 point):
